I recently read “I, Robot,” a collection of short stories written by Isaac Asimov in 1950′s. The movie that came out a few years ago with the same title was loosely based upon some of the themes from the stories, but did not follow any particular plot in the stories. While I did enjoy the movie, it failed, in my opinion, to capture the depth of the original writing and and themes Asimov was trying to communicate. If you don’t want me to spoil it for you, stop reading now.

Starfishers Volume 1: Shadowline (Starfishers Trilogy) by Glen Cook REVIEW SUMMARY: An Epic Space Opera tale. BRIEF SYNOPSIS: An interesting, epic space opera revenge tale that weaves together separate story lines into an excellent read. Many people today have a certain prejudice against Christian fiction books. People think that they will be overwhelmed with rebukes and blatant Christian teaching that sometimes they would rather not pick these kinds of books up.

And Another Thing… by Eoin Colfer REVIEW SUMMARY: A very good continuation of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series, although not equal to the first four books by Douglas Adams. But hey, that would have been asking the impossible (unless you’ve already done six impossible things this morning). BRIEF SYNOPSIS: Despite previously dying as

Life, the Universe and Everything (Hitchhiker’s Trilogy) by Douglas Adams Life, the Universe and Everything took me longer to read and held my attention less than the first two books in the series. I think that part of this was due to a complicated plot with mysterious white robots showing up everywhere killing people, and

The God Engines by John Scalzi If it wasn’t already obvious The God Engines is rife with metaphor; and especially metaphors about faith. Faith as iron. Faith as power. Faith as a weapon. Faith as a doorway. Faith is everything. As the novel also goes on to reveal faith is also absolutely nothing. Again this
