First the Dead (Bug Man Series #3) by Tim Downs

CSI lovers rejoice “the bug man” is here. A forensic entomologist is sent to New Orleans to prepare for Katrina, and be ready to process the dead. He’s told to save the living first then work on the others, but he wants to preserve evidence of murder before it washes away. He commandeers a boat, rescues a 10 year old boy and of course promptly finds a suspicious body. They team up and float all over the 9th Ward finding evidence of an active murderer. They also look for the child’s father.
