Blindness
by Jose Saramago
The creators of the upcoming SF movie Blindness tried to remain true to the source material, the acclaimed Portuguese novel by Jose Saramago.
In a group interview in New York on Sept. 22, writer and co-star Don McKellar and director Fernando Meirelles said that they fought long and hard to acquire the rights to the book, and once they succeeded, they felt compelled to stay as faithful as possible.
Set in an unidentified city in an unknown year, Blindness follows a group of people struggling to adapt and survive after a mysterious epidemic blinds the entire population. The stellar cast includes Mark Ruffalo, Alice Braga, Danny Glover, Gael Garcia Bernal and McKellar, who all play blind characters. Julianne Moore plays Ruffalo’s wife, who is inexplicably the only person who can still see. She fakes blindness in order to stay with her husband and help others as the situation deteriorates.

I’m very interested in this movie, I’ve tried to get the book from my library but they didn’t have it. I usually try and read the book before I see the movie, as I like to compare the two, the other way around I’m less inclined to read the book after seeing the movie.
I think I might just have to grit my teeth and bare seeing the movie before I read the book
